National ITS Program

Canada has the building blocks to become a world leader in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) technologies.  Academically, Canada is ranked #12 in the world, and some major ITS industry players are headquartered here. Furthermore, Canada has world expertise in telecommunications, geospatial, big data and analytics, and artificial intelligence, to name a few; all of which are necessary for ITS applications. Since this is an emerging and transformational sector, innovation, research and development are foundational.  As such, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) will provide federal leadership, along with ITS Canada and other key stakeholders, to develop a vibrant Canadian ITS ecosystem.

Below you will find documents developed throughout this initiative.  The intent is to share the progress being made, and to encourage feedback from interested parties.  If you have any questions or comments, please contact Marie-Chantal Ross, Program Leader, at marie-chantal.ross@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca.

The NRC held an Industry/Federal government workshop on July 6th, 2017 to get input on a National ITS vision:
